Welcome to Geekasaurus

Say Rawr!

Geekasaurus is a silly little comic about a geeky family. Specifically, my geeky family, and all the antics and hijinks of my daughter. You'll read along as we go on adventure after adventure, documenting the unexpected chuckles (and sometimes hard truths) along the way. As my husband and I learn to navigate being new parents, I'll be sharing the hilarity, one comic at a time.

I haven’t seen the movie Independence Day in years. I thought that it must be on Netflix or Amazon Prime, or even Hulu given that it’s the 4th of July. Who doesn’t want to watch Will Smith defeat the aliens and save the Earth on Independence Day? Am I the only one? If I want to see it I’ll have to rent it. I can’t find it streaming anywhere. All I want is to watch action-packed alien movies in an air-conditioned room on my husband’s days off.

Other people are spending time with friends and family, maybe enjoying a cold beverage and playing silly yard games. My husband and I are cleaning the basement while Grammie watches the little Dinosaur splash in a tiny plastic pool. It’s ridiculously hot outside. I’m making a seafood stew for dinner. We’ve been clearing out the basement for days already. Maybe we’ll take a break and be able to catch some fireworks over the trees this evening if we’re lucky.

Often times for us, holidays mean cleaning and huge reorganization projects because that is when my husband has time. It never ends, although I think I’m seeing overall improvement. For this week’s project, we have over 1000 board games to reorganize. I’m looking forward to playing them every once in a while. Not all holidays end up being super exciting I guess. It’s my hope that our efforts today mean that we can have a more relaxing and fun holiday in the future. Then again, not having a lot of holiday expectations is kind of relaxing in its own way. Cold beer and basement dust? Sounds like a party to me.

*And yes, Alice IS eating chicken tenders with ketchup in today’s comic. I’m not going to draw a toddler with a cigar in her mouth. That’s just irresponsible family cartooning. Have a safe and awesome 4th of July!
